<title>Warning. Stop Marketing Junk to our Kids</title>
    <link>http://www.obesitycures.com/obesity-and-fast-foods.html</link>
<description>Stop marketing junk food to kids, or well make new laws that will force you to stop.

Thats the warning from two United States government agencies to advertisers in the ongoing battle against child and teen obesity.

The warning was contained in study released this week by the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Health and Human Services. The weighty, 78-page document urges marketers to voluntarily adopt &quot;minimum nutritional standards for the food they market to children&quot;.

Failing that, they should focus their marketing efforts on low-calorie, more nutritious fare.

Unfortunately, the report makes no specific recommendations and it advises self-regulation rather than new laws.

We at ObesityCures.com would have preferred some tougher measures, but we understand that self-regulation may - and that's a big &quot;may&quot; - see quicker results than a long, drawn-out legal wrangle. We'll be keeping a close watch on this issue.
For more on child obesity and why it's so important to regulate how fast food giants sell their junk to our kids, visit our web page dedicated to the subject.</description>

<title>Soda Ban in US schools. Hats off to Big Bill</title>
    <link>http://www.obesitycures.com/obesity-cures-blog.html#Soda-Ban-in-US-schools.-Hats-off-to-Big-Bill</link>
<description>It's been some time coming, but at last a victory for advocates of healthier food in schools.
The nation's beverage giants have agreed to a deal that will outlaw the sale of sugary sodas in schools. Former president Bill Clinton - a self-confessed ex-junk food junkie - was a key player in brokering the agreement.
Some have already criticised the deal for not going far enough. Many of their points are valid, but Clinton's foundation is the first to acknowledge that this is only the first step in a long process.
We at ObesityCures.com think Big Bill deserves a big pat on the back for what he's managed to achieve here. In fact, I argue in an article that he may well have achieved more in this one deal than he did in two terms as president!
